Spending a Lot of Time in the Car? Play “I Spy” to Expand Language

Do you find yourself struggling to sit down and look at books or play language enhancing games with your child? Play a game of I SPY… Provide the clues and encourage your child will guess what your describing. “I spy with my little eye something that is brown, you sit on and it starts with the /k/ sound. When it’s your child’s turn, don’t guess the correct answer right away. Cue your child to give more descriptions such as color, size, function, etc.When you ask them, "Tell me more," they will feel excited that you haven't figured it out and will want to give you more detailed information. This is a great way to work on both vocabulary and describing! I spy a family who is going to have a lot of fun the next time they get in the car!
