Natalie Toomey, M.S., CCC-SLP

Owner/Founder

Natalie went to University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and earned a Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Science with a concentration in Speech Language Pathology in 2010. During her undergraduate career, Natalie took Spanish courses, studied abroad in Granada, Spain, and achieved a minor in Spanish. Having a passion for learning about language and bilingualism, Natalie became a research assistant in the Second Language Acquisition and Bilingualism Lab at the University.  After graduating with a Bachelor of Science, Natalie went on to earn a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at Eastern Illinois University. There, she was a graduate assistant at the Office of Disability Services and led focus groups that taught skills and strategies to college students with learning disabilities and special needs. After graduating with her Master's degree, Natalie began working in an elementary school as a bilingual speech-language pathologist, working with both Spanish and English speaking students. Soon after, she also began working at a private practice and also in acute care at a community hospital.  Natalie then earned the credential to work with infants and toddlers through the Illinois Early Intervention program. Currently, Natalie keeps up with best practice by continuing to work in private practice, schools, acute care hospital setting, and Early Intervention.

Natalie is ASHA certified and holds a Clinical Certificate of Competency (CCC-SLP). She is an avid learner and regularly enrolls in continuing education courses.


Madeline Kubiak, M.S., CCC-SLP

Maddie attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and earned a Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Science in 2015. During her undergraduate years, Maddie studied abroad in Leuven, Belgium as well as participated in extracurricular activities including serving as a member of the student council for the College of Applied Health Sciences. In addition, Maddie worked as a personal assistant to multiple students with various disabilities including Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy and other diagnoses to aid in activities of daily living. Maddie continued her academic career at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign as she went on to earn her Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology in 2017. During her graduate years, she worked at an early learning center/preschool as well as worked as an academic coach at the Division of Disability Resources & Educational Services department on campus where she taught students with various disabilities strategies for academic success including time management, organization, test preparation and other study skills. While completing her graduate clinical practicum, Maddie completed a full-time clinical internship at a large suburban hospital working with both outpatient pediatric clients as well as inpatient adult and geriatric clients. In addition, she completed a full-time internship at a public high school in the western suburbs of Chicago. Currently, Maddie continues to work as a full-time speech-language pathologist at a public high school during the academic year, as well as provides services during the extended school year within her district. Maddie continues to maintain and improve her knowledge and skills by completing various continuing education courses in order to stay current with best practice. Maddie is American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) certified and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC). In addition, she holds an Illinois Professional Educator License in Speech-Language Pathology.


Nancy Kalinowski, M.S., CCC-SLP

Nancy originally studied Marketing at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. After a career in the non-profit sector, opening a yoga studio and starting a family, she decided to go back to school to earn her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology at Rush University. At Rush, Nancy was able to experience a wide range of clinical experiences in different settings. However, her heart is in supporting children and helping them work towards their potential. Nancy works full time during the school year as an SLP in an elementary school. She has experience working with students in the areas of receptive and expressive language, articulation, fluency, pragmatics, and AAC. When she’s not working, she loves to seek out new adventures with her family, go to outdoor concerts, and spend time with friends. Nancy holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) and is accredited by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). In addition, she has an Illinois Professional Educator License in Speech-Language Pathology.

 

Sheri, M.S., CCC-SLP

Sheri is a bilingual speech language pathologist with many years of experience working with English and Spanish speaking children in Illinois schools and clinics.  Sheri earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and Speech/Hearing Science from the Ohio State University.  Subsequently, she graduated with a Master of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology from Purdue University following completion of a bilingual speech language pathology traineeship from the U.S. Department of Education.  Sheri learned Spanish through her college coursework, studying in Spain, internships in Miami, and conversing with family and friends.  She continues to use Spanish daily with her students, family, and friends.  She has experience helping English and Spanish speaking students with a variety of communication needs including articulation, phonology, receptive/expressive language delay, autism, childhood apraxia of speech, stuttering, selective mutism, and developmental delays.  Sheri is ASHA certified and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) and a Professional Education License from the Illinois State Board of Education.  She stays current in the field through collaboration with other SLPs and continuing education courses.


Elle Morton, M.A. CCC-SLP

Originally from the Philadelphia area, Elle earned her Bachelor of Arts from Washington University in St. Louis in 2005 and Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from George Washington University in Washington, DC in 2008. Elle did graduate research on test validity and accented English, and her peer-reviewed paper was published in Contemporary Issues in Communication Sciences and Disorders (Morton, Brundage, & Hancock, 2010). Elle spent several years working as a speech-language pathologist in the public schools in Fairfax County, Virginia before switching to private practice in 2012 in Nebraska. After moving to Oak Park in 2015, she worked as a preschool teacher and is now excited to be back in the field of speech-language pathology and working with the Talk Toomey team. She has 3 kids and 2 cats, speaks French, and is passionate about volunteering in her community and helping children and families.


Michelle Accetura, M.S., CCC-SLP

Michelle attended Elmhurst College (now Elmhurst University), where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders, with a minor in Psychology, as well as the Global Scholars distinction. During her undergraduate career, she worked as a Life-Coach helping students with disabilities learn a variety of skills in order to enable them in their futures. She also studied abroad in Italy, England, Ireland, and Scotland. Michelle went on to earn her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Purdue University (Boiler Up!) There, she held a graduate assistantship for the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Education Library. During graduate school, Michelle focused her coursework and research in the areas of Autism Spectrum Disorder and AAC (augmentative and alternative communication), which are both areas that she is truly passionate about. After graduation, Michelle postponed taking a job in order to backpack across Europe, where she visited 11 different countries and fully immersed herself in the various languages and cultures of each country. Since then, Michelle has gained experience working for a special education school district, working with students aged pre-k to highschool. In addition to Talk Toomey, Michelle currently works for a school district where she serves two elementary schools and implements home health interventions. Her hobbies include volunteering at the animal shelter, cooking, and being outdoors. Michelle holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) and is accredited by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). In addition, she has an Illinois Professional Educator License in Speech-Language Pathology


Anneliese Chiapetta, M.S., CCC-SLP

Anneliese attended Indiana University in Bloomington, IN where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences and a minor in Spanish. She then went to Western Illinois University where she received her Master of Science in Speech Pathology in 2020. In graduate school, Anneliese gained clinical experience in settings such as early childhood programs, several public schools for elementary and middle school age students, the Western Illinois University Speech-Language and Hearing Clinic, a center for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities, and an outpatient unit of a hospital. Following graduate school, Anneliese served as the Speech Language Pathologist for elementary and middle school students during her Clinical Fellowship Year. Currently, Anneliese is a full-time Speech Language Pathologist at an elementary and middle school for a school district within the Chicago suburbs. She evaluates students, collaborates with team members, and provides direct and indirect therapy for students. While at her school district, she also evaluates students from private and parochial schools. She services students in the summer during the extended school year session. Anneliese has clinical experience working with children and adults in areas of articulation, augmentative and alternative communication modalities, expressive and receptive language, fluency, hearing, social aspects of communication, and voice. Anneliese holds her Illinois Professional Educator License in Speech-Language Pathology. Additionally, she holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) and is accredited by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Anneliese values collaboration with families, making therapy individualized based on client need, and providing engaging speech and language therapy services. She is looking forward to supporting your child’s communication skills! 


Sabrina Mandelbaum, M.S., CCC-SLP

Sabrina attended Towson University in Towson, MD where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. She then went on to earn a Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology at Kean University in Union, NJ. Both her undergraduate and graduate clinical placements provided her with experience working with children and young adults from 2-21 years old with a variety of needs. Sabrina began her career post-grad in New Jersey at a specialized school for children and young adults with Autism and other disabilities. In this position, Sabrina gained experience working with students who utilized Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices. She then took travel therapy positions in River Forest and Oak Park, IL where she worked at the elementary level for the public schools in those districts. She continues to work with students from Pre-K-8th grade at private and parochial schools. Sabrina has experience working with children and young adults in the areas of receptive and expressive language, articulation, phonology, fluency, AAC, and pragmatics. She hopes to bring her fun and lively personality to all of her sessions and truly get to know each of her clients! Sabrina holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) and is accredited by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). In addition, she has an Illinois Professional Educator License in Speech-Language Pathology.


Gina Campanella, M.S., CCC-SLP

I'm Gina Campanella, a dedicated and experienced speech-language pathologist (SLP) with a passion for helping individuals unlock their full communication potential. I started my journey in the field of speech-language pathology at Loyola University Maryland, where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Speech Pathology/Audiology with a minor in Spanish. I pursued a Master's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Northeastern University in Boston, MA. For the past several years, I have had the privilege of working as an SLP, serving a diverse range of clients across public schools, non-public schools, and early intervention agencies. My approach to therapy is holistic, focusing on the individual's strengths and challenges, tailoring interventions to suit their unique needs. I'm dedicated to creating a safe and supportive environment where individuals can express themselves and achieve their communication goals with confidence. While my primary passion as a speech therapist is language-based and social language therapy, I am equally committed to providing comprehensive care, addressing a wide range of communication needs to ensure that every individual receives the support they require to thrive. I am new to Chicago, originally from Boston with some time spent working in the Bay Area of California. I am looking forward to exploring this new city both in the summer and winter seasons!
